3Doors to InfoLiteracy®
3 Doors

Information literacy is the ability to find and use information with critical discrimination in order to build knowledge (Gawith, 1994).

3Doors to InfoLiteracy® is a research-based, trademarked learning model and programme developed by Dr Gwen Gawith. You are encouraged to explore the model on this site. Information about one of the 3Doors® training options is available through UNITEC's "Information Literacy Across the Curriculum" a paper within the Graduate Diploma in Educational Technology or email Gwen Gawith gwen@metacog.co.nz.

The 3Doors to Infoliteracy® model is based on years of research into the challenges students face when making critical and creative use of information.

3Doors® hinges on twenty learning actions, grouped into three categories, the three doors.

AIM opens to knowing what you need to learn, how you need to learn it, knowing how to access information, knowing how to plan and manage the learning.
CLAIM opens to being able to 'process' information - analyse, evaluate, synthesise and interpret it to build understanding and knowledge
FRAME opens to frames for designing and communicating learning processes and knowledge clearly, concisely and accurately, using a range of media and technologies
